A1. Slow Down Tallahassee - Angel Of Death
A2. Slow Down Tallahassee - Tricks
B. Standard Fare - Dancing
Slow Down Tallahassee follow up their highly acclaimed debut album "The Beautiful Light" with new single "Angel Of Death"/"Trick". These two new songs continue to display their knack for perfectly fuzzy pop and the darker side of life, ahead of their second album, due in summer 2009.
Joining them on this release are the latest band to join Thee SPC roster, Standard Fare. They're a three piece fronted by Emma, who's soaring vocals are a mix of Isobel Campbell and Debbie Harry. Their debut release "Dancing" is a tale of broken relationships told to a delicious melody that's musically somewhere between the Lemonhead and Los Campesinos."
Reviews:
"Slow Down Tallahassee's LP - 'The Beautiful Light' showcased a band that knew how to nail a top pop song with some wonderful fuzzy guitar hooks. These two new songs are still some of the most catchy pop music you are likely to hear. Standard Fare offer a big pop tune with heartbreaking lyrics and more ideas than most bands can muster in an entire LP in just one song. Best new band of the year thus far? I think so."
Indie MP3
"Angel of Death and Tricks are a wonderful tumble of swirly synths, buzz-saw guitar, helium vocals and misanthropic filth. 'Dancing' makes the heart skip a beat like the finest of Magnetic Fields songs. Which is about as good as it gets."
Sounds XP
'Angel of Death' and 'Tricks' fizz along merrily enough and it's only afterwards you realise you've been knocked sideways with a healthy dose of angel-faced vitriol. Gently upbeat in its grief, the simple indie loveliness of 'Dancing' provides the perfect foil and puts a lid on this best of split personalities."
